General Information
One of the main goals of Engineering Tools & Platforms (ETP) is to increase productivity of Nokia Product Creation units and R&D programs. This is accomplished by providing an efficient set of platforms, solutions and tools which are deployed and maintained to meet the demanding needs of Nokia R&D. ETP is part of the Nokia Information Technology (Nokia IT) unit. Dallas ETP supports the Dallas, Boston and Austin R&D sites.


Position Description
The IT Specialist position works under the supervision of the Dallas ETP Manager. The main tasks are to develop/maintain/support Windows Server Platforms and tools. You may also be called on to support multiple flavors of UNIX, storage and other engineering platforms. Responsibility areas also include cooperation with R&D Engineers and global ETP project teams for local implementation of globally developed solutions. The primary focus is the Boston R&D environment. A percentage of time will also be spent participating on global activities. The person will be expected to be a member of a technical global team or act as a global technical specialist.

A broad range of IT knowledge is needed to function effectively as an IT Specialist. This person may be called upon to support workstations, servers, storage, and high availability solutions (clustering, SW/HW load balancing, etc). He/She is expected to conduct problem analysis and resolution with minimal support and direction and to keep the systems current with changing versions. He/She is responsible for emergency response, as needed, to correct system failures
He/She must be able to establish effective two way communication with engineers, communicating the availability of new solutions as well collecting feedback on those solutions and the current environment.

Qualifications



Mandatory

* BS degree in Engineering or equivalent experience
* Minimum of 5 years of Windows Administration experience
* Minimum of 3 years of Linux Administration experience
* Strong knowledge of Windows XP/2000/2003
* DNS and User/Host authentication (ADNS/Windows authentication)
* Some knowledge of multiple flavors of UNIX
* Good scripting capabilities (sh, ksh, perl, php, cgi) desired
* Some knowledge of file server technologies (NAS, SAN, RAID, Samba)
* Effective communication skills, including the ability to interact professionally with a diverse group of people in English.

Experience in the following is desirable but not required

* Network Appliance file servers
* VMware
* Blade server technologies
* Open Source tools and programs
